Lawcovernotes October 2013

The Practice Support Services team is committed to assisting lawyers improve their practice processes and procedures, because evidence indicates the more profitable and more effectively managed practices are less likely to face a professional negligence action. Lawcover recently commissioned a study of the effectiveness of our Risk Management and Claims Prevention programs over the period 2005 to 2012. The study provides compelling evidence that by participating in our Practice Advisory Services, law practices will experience a reduction in both the likelihood of and actual claims. There was also a significant improvement in the reduction of frequency and severity of claims for one cohort of law practices who participated in our Risk Management Education Programs. We are committed to our Practice Support Services, because we know it works. We also know many of our insured solicitors know it works too! Practice Support Services are not mandatory but we encourage all insured law firms to be pro-active in their approach to managing practice risks. Not only are there benefits in terms of reducing the stresses of potential complaints and claims, you can also qualify for discounts on your premium, qualification for CLE points and refreshing your knowledge of best practice methods.
