Practice Support Services At Lawcover, we believe that our risk management and claims prevention advice should be practical, useful and accessible. Having operated under the banner of Risk Services for a number of years, this year we decided to change our name to better reflect what it is we offer to you – Practice Support Services. Our main objective is to work with you to identify and reduce the chances of claims-prone risks arising in your practice and to offer practical advice on practice management strategies which can reduce your exposure to complaints and claims. We provide our Practice Support Services through a range of activities including: Seminars Workshops Risk Management Education Programs Practice Advisory Visits Articles and communications such as Lawcovernotes Telephone consultations Our team understands the difficulties lawyers face when experiencing a professional negligence claim or complaint and the associated stress and pressures it can place upon you. The impact it has on the individual can be significant and in certain circumstances can be debilitating to your practice. Through activities like our Risk Management Education Program (RMEP) we can provide you with strategies to minimise and mitigate the likelihood of claims. Thousands of lawyers, legal administrative support staff and new law graduates have attended Lawcover’s RMEP since its inception in 1995. All of our programs are regularly reviewed, revised and updated and each RMEP is led by Lawcover accredited facilitators experienced in law practice risk management and adult education learning. We are aware that a significant number of our insured solicitors practise in regional and rural areas and we are happy to work with Regional Law Societies and practitioner groups to conduct Workshops or Education Programs. We are also looking at ways to increase accessibility to our Practice Support Services to practitioners in remote areas. As you will note from our Claims Prevention Roadshow promotion in this issue of Lawcovernotes, we welcome the opportunity to travel to practices in the rural and regional areas.
