Lawcovernotes December 2016

Once again it is that time of the year when I wish season’s greetings to all principals, solicitors and staff of our insured law practices, on behalf of the Lawcover team. Lawcover Annual Review In October we published the 2015/16 Annual Review providing details of Lawcover’s performance and operations during the past financial year. We were delighted to be able to report further positive results driven by low claims frequency and severity and continued prudential management of the insurance business. As a ‘profession owned’ insurer, Lawcover is a part of the legal profession and we have both a desire and an obligation to serve and meet your needs. To achieve that, we work within a framework that is in the best interests of the legal profession and the consumers of legal services. If you did not receive the email providing a link to the online version of the Annual Review, youmay wish to access a copy by clicking the link below or selecting the option to download a PDF version. If you would like a hardcopy of the Annual Review to be sent to you, please send an email to lawcover@lawcover.com.au with your request, details and your preferred mailing address. Customer Survey In the August 2016 edition of Lawcover notes , I noted that while we continuously examine our own performance in terms of value and service delivery, we are always keen to find out more about what our insured lawyers think. Since July 2016, we have been conducting short online surveys of principals of insured law practices through an independent research company, Customer Monitor. Thank you to those who have participated in those surveys to date as your feedback will assist us in understanding how we can improve and provide the best possible service. The final survey groupwill be completed in December and in the next issue of Lawcover notes we will provide an overviewof the outcomes of the survey. The results to date have been very encouraging in terms of the perception of value that Lawcover provides and the standards of service we deliver. Since joining as CEO in 2012, I have worked with the Board and staff to focus on efficient, cost-effective and proactive service delivery across all parts of our operations. This focus has delivered lower premiums, policyholder rebates and, based on the results of the survey to date, a high level of customer satisfaction. In achieving those things I believe we are well on the road to achieving our overarching purpose. This issue In this issue you will find the usual mix of what I hope are interesting and informative cautionary notes together with explanatory notes about the Lawcover professional indemnity insurance policy and information about optional Top Up insurance. We have also included a brief update on our risk management and claims prevention activites. I trust you will find this edition of interest.
